Akron couple competes on NBC's 'The Wall' with 'ending you have to see to believe'

It's an episode promising a big finale.

AKRON, Ohio -- "The episode with an ending you have to see to believe."

That's the tease for Monday night's episode of NBC's The Wall, which features an Akron couple as contestants.

You can view the episode with them live tonight at The Barley House Akron for a watch party at 7 p.m. It is open to the public.

“You laugh, you cry, you get nervous and then you cry a little more and then you freak out,” says contestant Nick Duve. “Raw emotion. The emotion that you see on stage from me and him (Steve Duve) is 100 percent real.”

They have been married since September of 2016. They moved back to Akron from Florida in hopes of starting a family.

“That’s what people love about the show," Steve says. "You get so engulfed in these people’s lives from the minute they get on stage, you are hooked, wanting them to win something."

They taped the show in early 2017, and at the time they were starting the process of adoption.

“There’s so many kids that need help and if we’re able to use the opportunity to be advocates of adoption and be able to at least change one person’s life that’s what we want to do,” Nick explains.

The two are now proud parents of a nearly 3-month-old boy, Anderson.

“He is our little bundle of joy,” Steve says. “He has crazy straight black hair. He’s beautiful, the best baby.”

The contestants can’t tell us the outcome of the game, but say they’d like to start a foundation to help others looking to foster or adopt.

LeBron James is the executive producer of The Wall, which airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on WKYC.
