Cleveland native Franc West joins team JHud on NBC’s ‘The Voice’

A Cleveland Native is taking The Voice the stage for the second season in a row!

And the red chairs turn—for the 15th time.

The 15th season of NBC’s long-running show,The Voice, is now underway and one local man was presented the opportunity of a lifetime.

During day two of the blind auditions, 38-year-old Cleveland native, Franc West entertained the judges with his rendition of (Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding.

West, who began singing in Church and later found a passion for the art as a cadence caller in the Navy, captured the ear of seasoned Voice coach, Jennifer Hudson.

Hudson joined The Voice cast during season 13 but took the following season off. However, Hudson is back and ready to secure her first win with power-house singers like West.

"Jennifer has a huge voice and a huge presence. And my voice is pretty big. And you don’t hear heavy heavy husky voices all the time," said West.

In an interview after the auditions, West says that the experience of working with Hudson is a highlight of his career.

"Just to hear her say my name and direct any type of criticism constructive or not constructive, doesn’t even matter, she’s saying my name." said West. "It just felt amazing to hear that from such a living legend."

West, who currently resides in Atlanta, was joined at his blind audition by his mother and son.
