Akron student calls out President Trump during Firestone High School walkout

'Mr. President, can you spare a small amount of time to acknowledge a tragedy without victim blaming?'

AKRON, Ohio -- “Mr. President, can you spare a dime? Can you spare a small amount of time to acknowledge a tragedy without victim blaming?”

Those are the words of a Firestone High School student who read a poem directed at President Trump as her classmates listened during the national walkout.

“Mr. President, can you spare a dime to back the NRA off of supporting your campaign and presidency and everything else you do?”

She continued…

“Can you please spare a dime to make sure that tragedies that happened in Columbine, Florida, Sandy Hook Elementary School never have to happen again?”

And another verse…

“Isn’t it sad how as the land of the free and the home of the brave – one of the most powerful nations in all of the world – that our school children have to worry about if they’re coming home from school safe?”

She ended with this statement:

“Mr. President, can you please spare a dime to help push change and make sure that the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting is the last school shooting this country ever has to face?”
