ASHTABULA, Ohio — A pilot was killed in a plane crash that occurred in Harpersfield Township in Ashtabula County on Sunday night.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, its Warren Dispatch Center received a call just before 6 p.m. regarding a plane crash that had occurred near Mini Ranch Trail south of Clay Street. Upon arriving at the scene, troopers discovered a fixed wing single-engine aircraft had crashed east of the runway of Germack Airport.
The pilot, who has been identified as 75-year-old John Williams of Geneva, was the lone passenger of the plane and was killed in the crash.
The OSHP's investigation remains ongoing, while the Federal Aviation Administration was contacted to respond to the scene to conduct an independent investigation.
