15 Cleveland Police recruits fired for cheating

The investigation focused on irregularities in notebooks that recruits are required to keep.

15 Cleveland Police recruits have been fired after an internal investigation found that the group cheated during their police academy training.

The investigation focused on irregularities in notebooks that recruits are required to keep. During the review process, some of the instructors noticed possible plagiarism.

In letters sent to the recruits from Safety Director Michael McGrath, most were let go for being untruthful during the investigation as well as for plagiarism.

Lawyers for the recruits filed a temporary restraining order against the city last month to try to pause the investigation so the trainees could take a state certification test.
