Rating Cleveland's Amazon bid from one to five stars

No one gave any more stars than three.

Chances are, you have seen an Amazon review, where you can give one to five stars on a product. Five is the best.

On Thursday, Channel 3 News gave the people of Cleveland the chance to rate the city’s Amazon bid on that same scale and leave comments.

It soon became more about what Cleveland was lacking rather than the bid itself.

Rashelle Baker gave just three stars and said the city lost out because it needs more hotels and better schools.

James Denny also gave three, adding the city also needs to build up the lakefront and beef up its police force.

No one gave any more stars than three.

But it may have also been because the city released few details compared to its closest competitors.

Pittsburgh leaders shared an inspirational video last year, as the mayor now boasts that they are the only rust belt city to make the cut.

Columbus partnered with Ohio State University and offered graduates as future employees. Governor John Kasich, an OSU graduate, claimed he even had breakfast with Amazon’s CEO.

Yet Clevelanders still seem far from defeated.

“There might be a chance in the future,” said Adam Radikovich, standing outside an Amazon pickup point on CSU’s campus. “A missed opportunity now is an opportunity later that can be capitalized on.”
