Photos detailing the damage done during Monday's riot inside of the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center were released by the county on Thursday.
According to Juvenile Court Media Specialist Mary Davidson, Unit 4 of the detention center was vandalized by some of the residents. A television was broken along with panes of glass. Ceiling tiles, showers, cell doors, and light fixtures were damaged.
The total cost of the damages is estimated at over $200,000.
According to reports, the incident at 9300 Quincy Avenue involved 12 juveniles. Five of them were removed and transported to the Justice Center. An additional seven were segregated from the other residents.
The Cuyahoga County Sheriff's office requested SWAT to the scene and Cleveland Police assisted to deescalate the situation. An exterior perimeter was created as officials investigated whether anyone was attempting to escape.
Two minor injures were reported, one juvenile and one deputy.
