Body of female recovered in Lake Erie near Willowick

Multiple agencies are on scene, investigating.

WILLOWICK, Ohio — Multiple agencies are investigating after a body was found in Lake Erie near Willowick.

The U.S. Coast Guard confirms it got a call just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning that a person on the shore spotted an unresponsive person in the waters in the lake.

U.S. Coast Guard Fairport Harbor readied their boat and launched. In the meantime, several local agencies, including Eastlake's technical rescue unit, rushed to the scene. 3News crews spotted their unit on a residential street near the shore where the body was reportedly found.

The U.S. Coast Guard told 3News that the local crews did, in fact, recover the body. Willowick police officials confirmed that the body was female. No other details were immediately available.
