LORAIN, Ohio — Opening statements took place Thursday morning in the case of Martin Robinson who is accused of shooting an Amherst police officer last year.
The charges against Robinson stretch back to May 2018 when officer Eugene Ptacek was shot during a 12-hour standoff.

It happened as authorities were trying to execute a warrant at Robinson’s home regarding weapons violations.
Robinson, who was also shot in the standoff, is a former corrections officer.
Officer Ptacek survived his injuries and was released from the hospital in July.
