Sherrod Brown says he will consider 2020 presidential run; Wife Connie Shultz discuses on Facebook

Brown acknowledged in multiple interviews Monday after appearing on MSNBC's Morning Joe that he's seeing and hearing encouragement for his potential candidacy.

CINCINNATI (AP) - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, one of the winningest Democrats in Ohio history, is leaving the door open for a 2020 presidential run.

Brown, coming off a decisive re-election victory Nov. 6, had previously played down interest in joining what's expected to be a crowded Democratic field.

But Brown acknowledged in multiple interviews Monday after appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe " that he's seeing and hearing encouragement for his potential candidacy.

He says his election to a third term shows "a strong progressive" can win, even in a state that's become GOP-dominated. On election night, he called his campaign "a blueprint for our nation in 2020."

Republican President Donald Trump has noted Brown supports his moves to toughen trade deals. But Brown says he disagrees with the president on nearly everything else.
