One man is dead and another injured after a two-vehicle crash on the Ohio Turnpike in Hudson on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred as severe weather made its way into Northeast Ohio.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Jarrod Mochnick of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania was traveling eastbound on the turnpike when his Ford Fusion ran off the left side of the roadway, narrowly missing the cement median. The car then came back onto the road, crossed three lanes of traffic, and was hit by a Freightliner truck driven by 40-year-old Shaun Smith of Sunrise, Florida.

The Fusion was hit on the passenger side by the truck before it came to rest against a guardrail.

Mochnick was taken to Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Smith received minor injuries from the crash, which remains under investigation.
