2019 MLB All-Star Game 'Election Day' voting open; Indians' Carlos Santana leads first base vote

The voting period ends on Thursday at 4 p.m.!

CLEVELAND -- The All-Star Game is coming to Cleveland.

And it won't be long until we find out who will be starting in the 'Midsummer Classic' at Progressive Field.

In what will mark the first year of the new voting format for the game, MLB will begin its inaugural 'Election Day' on Wednesday at noon. Over the course of the ensuing 28-hour period, fans will have the ability to vote on a ballot consisting of three players at each position -- and nine in the outfield -- that was previously determined by the 'primary' fan voting period that ended last Friday.

Fans can vote once on the final ballot on MLB platforms, including MLB.com, and submit up to 17 unique player votes via Google. First baseman Carlos Santana, who revealed on Tuesday he plans to participate in the Home Run Derby, is the Cleveland Indians' lone candidate on the ballot after receiving 1,180,719 votes on the primary ballot.

UPDATE: As of 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Santana currently sits in first place among American League first basemen. You have until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday to vote.
