Allie Clifton to serve as color analyst for Cleveland Cavaliers' game vs. Phoenix Suns

Austin Carr will miss the game due to a death in the family.

By now, Allie Clifton is no stranger to Cleveland Cavaliers fans. Since 2012, the Van Wert native has served as the team's sideline reporter during local broadcasts on Fox Sports Ohio.

On Tuesday, however, Clifton will take on a different role for the Wine & Gold. According to the Cavs, Clifton will join play-by-play man Fred McLeod as the color analyst for the team's matchup with the Phoenix Suns.

Austin Carr, the Cavs' color analyst for games on Fox Sports Ohio since 1997, will miss the game due to a death in the family.

Although Clifton's shift comes as the result of unfortunate circumstances, it marks a historic moment for the Cavs. Clifton will be the first female to call a game on FSO for the Cavs in an analyst capacity, after having spent the last seven seasons on the sideline.

In addition to her work for Fox Sports Ohio, Clifton has become a familiar face -- and voice -- for Cleveland fans, thanks to her work as a co-host on the Road Trippin' podcast, which she began with former Cavs forwards Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye. Last month, she made an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast on The Ringer, while earlier this week, she made cameos on a variety of Fox Sport One shows, included UNDISPUTED and Speak For Yourself.

Prior to joining Fox Sports Ohio, Clifton played basketball at the University of Toledo from 2006-10. Tip-off between the Cavs and Suns from Phoenix on Tuesday night is slated for 10 p.m. ET.
