BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Carl Nassib was a part of one of the feature segments on the debut episode of the HBO Sports documentary miniseries, “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Cleveland Browns” last Tuesday night.

Nassib was seen giving financial advice to his fellow defensive linemen, but during his passionate advisement, he repeatedly used “Not Safe For Work” curse words that drew the ire of family members.

“Yeah, I’m a little embarrassed about my swearing,” Nassib said prior to Sunday’s practice. “I didn’t know I swore that much. My grandmother was upset with me, but I’m not on social media, so I really don’t see anything, which is kind of nice.”

During the scene, Nassib was explaining basic concepts of financial investment, including saving a percentage of a yearly contract’s value and not touching that money while letting the interest build up for a nicer return in retirement.

“I do not think that anybody is even giving two percent interest,” Nassib said. “The way it was edited made it seem like I said that. I was talking about gains on stocks and other investments.

“This offseason, I did a lot of research about finances and stuff like that because I did not study that in college. I felt like I wanted to share that with my teammates and the younger guys and help them out because it helped me out a lot.”

Nassib used the offseason as an opportunity to take financial control of his future after hearing stories during rookie events from current and former players about the struggles they have had with money because of mismanagement.

“I just don’t want to anybody to do something that I can do myself, so I wanted to learn how to do it myself,” Nassib said.

There was another scene involving Nassib where coach Hue Jackson showed s photo of his defensive lineman to the entire team, and that is where the third-year edge rusher admittedly proposed to pop music sensation Taylor Swift prior to a recent concert.

“She’s way out of my league,” Nassib said. “She doesn’t have time for me.”

While some questioned if Nassib was showing off for the cameras, Jackson promised that viewers saw an authentic version of the third-year defensive end.

“That is the real Carl Nassib,” Jackson said with a laugh. “There is no doubt about it. Don’t let him fool you. That’s who he is.”
