CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon and Green Bay Packers defensive back Damarious Randall had quite the one-on-one battle when their respective teams played at FirstEnergy Stadium last Sunday, but the Twitter spat that ensued following the game continued the competition.

“I think that is sometimes just the nature of the game,” Gordon said. “It’s just an emotional game altogether. Before, during, after the game, especially when you know that you have done everything that you can do, and then, guys take it to that extent on social media and stuff like that.

“You want to protect yourself, defend yourself, stand up for your teammates, stand up for everybody and leave it at that. That is what I did, and I felt alright about it. I said nothing else after that. Just stated my peace and left it at that, but like I said, I gave him congratulations on the win more than anything.”

When asked about personally defending Gordon one-on-one, Randall said, “He had one catch. Any more questions?”

Gordon, who caught three passes for 69 yards and one touchdown in the 27-21 loss to the Packers, posted the following response:

That comment drew Randall’s ire, and he posted a tweet that referenced Gordon’s history of alcohol and drug use.

“Oh man, you know, that is his prerogative,” Gordon said. “That is his right to do whatever he wants to do and say whatever he wants to. It doesn’t really affect me any type of way. It is just how he felt. That is what he felt he needed to say, so that is alright.”

Furthermore, Gordon clarified what he meant by calling the Browns a “disadvantaged team.”

“The fact that the team is 0-13, we are playing behind the eight ball,” Jackson said. “We have apparent disadvantages. That is all I meant by that -- struggling team, young team. We have work to get done and a lot of room to improve. I think everybody knows that that watches us play. We are almost there, but unfortunately, we haven’t gotten to that point yet.”

In his two games back after three years away from the game because of suspensions for drug and alcohol use, Gordon has turned seven catches into 154 yards and one touchdown.

“No football game is ever just going to go perfect,” Gordon said. “You are always going to miss something out of every receiver, every running back that is out there on the field. If somebody is open, somebody else is also open. There is only one football, so that is just how it kind of is sometimes. I’m sure there may have been a few, but it felt like we did a really good job, though.”
