Listen: New Cleveland Browns coach Freddie Kitchens makes unannounced call into 92.3 The Fan

On Wednesday, Ken Carman and Anthony Lima of 92.3 The Fan got an unexpected call from new Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens.

CLEVELAND -- Freddie Kitchens knows he looks like a Cleveland Browns fan.

At the press conference to introduce him as the team's new head coach on Monday, he admitted as much.

"I hear from my kids at school that everybody wants that orange Dawg Pound sweatshirt," Kitchens said of cult-like following in Cleveland. "I do not know. I may be popular because of the sweatshirt."

But on Wednesday, Kitchens took his relatability to a new level.

As "The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima" on 92.3 The Fan entered its final hour, the co-hosts received an unexpected call. Only the man on line 1 wasn't a fan with a take, but rather a newly named head coach looking for his left guard.

"Thanks fellas, I won't take up too much of your time. I was trying to get [Joel] Bitonio because he's not up at 5:30 in the morning when I'm coming in or 11:30 at night when I'm going home," Kitchens said.

Bitonio had been interviewed earlier in the show, where he sang the praises of Kitchens' hiring.

But while Kitchens just missed his Pro Bowl offensive lineman, he didn't mind sticking around for what wound up being an 8-minute interview. Before either Carman or Lima could ask Kitchens a question, he had one of his own, inquiring to the pair of co-hosts whether or not they were wearing brown and orange.

Carman was. Lima wasn't as fortunate.

"I guess I don't matter," Lima said.

Kitchens went on to discuss the Browns' Super Bowl odds and how nervous he was during what was the first head coaching interview of his career. He also listened to Carman and Lima perform one of their signature catchphrases -- "Super Bowl, Super Browns. Yeah!" -- before adding a suggestion of his own.

"Can we put a 'hell' in front of that 'yeah?' Kitchens asked.
