Odell Beckham Jr.'s new Nike shoe to release this week

On June 21, Nike will release the Air Max 720 OBJ, inspired by Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

At minicamp earlier this month, Odell Beckham Jr. made a statement -- and then some -- with his footwear.

Pretty soon, fans of the Browns new star wide receiver will be able to do the same.

On Friday, June 21, Nike will drop the Air Max 720/OBJ "Young King of the Drip," marking one of the company's most highly anticipated shoe releases of the year. Meshing the popular Air Max 720 silhouette with famous shoes from Nike's past, the multicolored kicks were designed by Nike Sportswear Design Director Eric Goto with direct input from the 3-time Pro Bowl receiver.

"In working with Odell, one quote kind of stood out and the one thing he said was, 'I think far-out is in,'" Goto said, via Nike. "This idea of being able to push the limits, push the boundaries of style and function and innovation, I think that's the one thing we tethered the design to."

In addition to the more modern Air Max 720, the shoe references the classic Zoom Turf 96, which was closely associated with Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders. It also includes a multi-colored upper and a removable patch of Beckham's signature "OBJ" logo on the tongue.

"Athletes from the '90s brought bold attitudes and unique style on and off the turf, and OBJ represents the next generation of statement makers," an official description of the shoe reads. "The OBJ Air Max 720 pays tribute to turf models from the '90s, and blends the expression of sport and innovation with OBJ's favorite traditional Air Max design elements. "Young King of the Drip" features multiple colors that illustrate the wild fashion scene—a take on OBJ's unconventional, daring style."

Following an initial limited release at online retailer Solebox last weekend, pairs of the OBJ Air Max 720 have already hit the secondary market, where they're selling for more than $300 a pair at sites like Kixify. The shoe will possess a retail price of $200 and will release via the Nike SNKRS app and various retailers on Friday at 10 a.m. ET.
