CLEVELAND -- Following his breakout performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, Saquon Barkley has found himself linked to the Cleveland Browns, who lay claim to the draft's No. 1 pick. On Monday, one of the Browns' most infamous former players urged the team to take the Penn State product, when Johnny Manziel posted an Instagram of himself and Barkley, calling the highly touted prospect the "UNDISPUTED #1 Pick."
Barkley also shared the image to his Instagram story, as well as videos of the duo working out together at an undisclosed location. It's unclear what connection exists between Barkley and Manziel, who hasn't played organized football since being released by the Browns at the end of the 2015 season.
Last month, Manziel revealed he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which he is now taking medication for as he works toward a football comeback. Later this month, he'll participate in the Spring League, which will kick off its second season on March 28 in Austin, Texas.
As for Barkley, the former Nittany Lion is "firmly in the mix" for the Browns to select with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. The 6-foot, 233-pound running back wowed onlookers at the combine this past weekend, posting a 4.40 40-yard dash and 29 reps on the bench press.
Also joining Manziel and Barkley for the workout -- according to Manziel's Instagram story -- was former Browns cornerback Joe Haden. It remains to be seen whether or not Barkley will become the third member of the trio to begin his career in Cleveland.
