Watch: Nick Chubb gives Cleveland Browns lead over Seattle Seahawks with seven-yard TD run

A seven-yard touchdown run from second-year back Nick Chubb gave the Cleveland Browns a 7-0 lead over the Seattle Seahawks early in the first quarter.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns received the opening kickoff from the Seattle Seahawks, and they wasted no time or field position by building a three-play, 23-yard drive that running back Nick Chubb capped off with a seven-yard touchdown run.

With Austin Seibert’s successful point-after attempt, the Browns held a 7-0 lead over the Seahawks with 13:01 to play in the first quarter at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.

Chubb took a handoff from quarterback Baker Mayfield and with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. serving as a lead blocker, got to the outside and glided across the goal line for his team-leading fifth touchdown run of the season.

Chubb carried twice for nine yards and the touchdown run on the opening drive of the game, while quarterback Baker Mayfield completed his lone pass attempt to tight end Pharaoh Brown for a nine-yard gain and first down.

On the season, Chubb has rushed for 494 yards and five touchdowns on 96 rushing attempts, good enough for a 5.15 yards-per-carry average.

Chubb is looking for his fourth consecutive game with at least 80 rushing yards and continues to build on what was a successful first NFL season in 2018.

Chubb finished the 2018 season, one in which he saw limited time in the first seven games, with 996 yards and eight touchdowns on 192 carries. Chubb had 11 20-yard runs, four 40-yard bursts and 47 first-down conversions.

A second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of Georgia, Chubb rushed for 788 of his 996 yards and five of his eight touchdowns on 140 carries under the direction of coach Freddie Kitchens. After the changes in the coaching staff, Chubb averaged 5.63 yards per carry and became a contributing player in the passing game as well.
