Rocky River native Red Gerard's Olympic journey has come to an end after he finished fifth in the first men's big air snowboarding competition in the games' history.

The day capped off an incredible two weeks for the 17-year-old, who took the gold medal in slopestyle.

And while Gerard and his family now live in Colorado, they may be returning to Northeast Ohio very soon, as the Cleveland Indians have apparently offered Red the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on opening day.

What follows is a comprehensive live blog of the evening's Olympic events. You can also join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #3Olympics.

11:10 p.m. - Swiss win team alpine gold

In the first ever team alpine skiing even at the Winter Olympics, Switzerland took home the gold medal thanks to solid runs by Ramon Zenhaeusern, Wendy Holdener, and Daniel Yule.

Austria settled for the silver, while Norway edged out France for the bronze.

10:25 p.m. - Four-man bobsled

The American four-man bobsled team of Codie Bascue, Evan Weinstock, Steven Langton, and Sam McGuffie delivered a solid second run and now sits in ninth place, 88 hundredths of a second behind the first place German group.

9:36 p.m. - Canadian takes gold, American silver in first men's big air

With a score of 174.25, Canada's Sebastian Toutant has earned the gold medal in the first ever men's Olympic big air snowboarding competition. Toutant finished five and a half points ahead of American Kyle Mack, who took the silver.

Rocky RIver's Red Gerard finished fifth, although he did land all three of his runs clean.

9:05 p.m. - Gerard will not medal in big air

Red Gerard's final run of 68.25 was slightly better than his second, but unfortuately his combined score of 143.00 will not be enough for a medal. The best he can do is fifth place.

Canada's Sebastien Toutant currently leads with a score of 174.25.

8:52 p.m. - Gerard up to fourth

Despite an underwhelming second run, Red Gerard actually moved up two spots to fourth place. He'll have one more chance to impress the judges and possibly obtain a medal.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's Carlos Garcia-Knight (the top qualifier) wiped out on both his first two runs and will not medal in the event.

8:33 p.m. - Gerard regresses on second run

Red Gerard's second run wasn't nearly as good as his first. While he landed clean, he didn't get nearly enough air and carded a score of just 65.50.

His combined score of 140.25 isn't expected to put him on the podium, meaning he'll have to impress big time on his last jump to get a medal.

8:22 p.m. - Gerard in sixth after first run

Red Gerard's score of 74.75 is currently good enough for sixth place in men's big air. The second run will be coming up in moments.

The finals also bring us a sighting from President Trump's daughter Ivanka, who was spotted in the stands by WKYC's Will Ujek.

8:10 p.m. - Gerard gets solid score in first run

Red Gerard's first run in men's big air snowboarding won't place him at the top of the leaderboard, but it still produced a respectable score of 74.75 to put him in fourth place.

The 17-year-old has two more runs left, with the scores of the best two being combined for the final standings.
