ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The National Weather Service issued a warning to pilots for ash from the Shishaldin Volcano. The volcano about 5 a.m.
Tuesday spewed up a cloud that reached 19,000 feet. Seismic activity diminished for a few hours, but it ramped up again, sending up a cloud that reached 25,000 feet and had more ash.
The cloud moved northeast into the Bering Sea, but it was expected to drop trace amounts of ash on the Alaska Peninsula. Seismic activity at the volcano diminished after noon.
