Saturday live updates

1 p.m.

Roughly 1,600 people are currently without power in Cleveland following an apparent issue with the Brooklyn network.

9 a.m.

A heavy band of lake effect snow is making its way east of Cleveland. Check out the live radar here.

7 a.m.

The National Weather Service has canceled the Winter Storm Warning for most impacted counties several hours earlier than expected. The warnings were originally slated to expire at 10 a.m.

A small handful of counties to the east remain under a Winter Storm Warning. See the list here.

5 a.m.

The snow has moved out of the area, leaving behind sloppy road conditions. Travel remained difficult -- especially in the Akron / Canton areas -- as crews worked to clear the snow-packed streets. Some lake effect snow, however, lingered with a slim band west of Cleveland.

Friday live updates

11:30 p.m.

The Turnpike tweeted out that the accident has been cleared up and all lanes are now open:

11:10 p.m.

WKYC Channel 3's Dawn Kendrick along with photojournalist Mark Smilor are checking out the conditions in Lake and Ashtabula Counties. We caught them on Route 20 heading into Madison.

11:00 p.m.

A portion of the Ohio Turnpike is closed in Lorain County. The westbound lanes at mile post 146, near the Route 57 interchange in Elyria are completely blocked due to a jack-knifed truck.

10:15 p.m.

The I-90 Lake County corridor has seen its speed limit reduced down to 40 miles per hour per a tweet from ODOT.

7:45 p.m.

The city of Cleveland has put out an advisory recommending that drivers stay off the roadways this evening. Officers have been responding to crashes and spin outs.

6:30 p.m.

We had team coverage on tonight's newscast. Amani Abraham gave us an update on road conditions in Akron...

...and Brandon Simmons did the same on Cleveland's east side.

5:30 p.m.

All RTA trains are delayed at least 20-30 minutes due to the snow and ice.

4:30 p.m.

Both of comedian John Mulaney's shows scheduled for tonight at Playhouse Square have been canceled. The snow apparently has Mulaney stuck in New York.

4 p.m.

The speed limit on I-90 in Lake County has been reduced to 50 miles per hour, according to ODOT.

3:50 p.m.

A flood warning has been issued for the Vermilion River near Riverside Drive. The river is starting to rise and residents have been warned they may need to evacuate.

FRIDAY EVENING: We're all snow in ALL of northern Ohio with temps crashing into the 10s and 20s. Winds will continue to howl out of the northwest causing blowing and drifting snow. If you have travel plans beginning Friday midday through early Saturday, you may want to reconsider. Total snow accumulations will be on the order of 3-6 inches for most -- but 4-8 inches can be expected from Cleveland to Akron to Ashtabula.

It'll all be done and over Sunday, but cold air will still be here. Lake effect (yes, even with the ice on the Lake it happens) will linger into next week.
