Salvation Army looking for more holiday volunteers

East Cleveland is the area that needs the most assistance.

The Salvation Army tells us they need some extra help for the holidays, and while they're always looking for bell ringers this time of year, there are some other ways to get involved.

In East Cleveland, they're looking for people to serve meals Tuesdays through Thursdays, and are also in need of a smiling face to greet people who shop in the food pantry.

Major Brian Glasco says volunteering and giving back not only helps others, but it shows what the community is really about.

"It helps them realize that they're cared for," Glasco said. "In a community like East Cleveland, where sometimes you walk around and you see abandoned homes, you see streets that may not be in the greatest shape or in disrepair, you get a sense of hopelessness because you think that people don't care. This shows that people do care."

Specifically on Monday, the Salvation Army in East Cleveland is asking for volunteers to help distribute bags of gifts. Come in any time Monday morning and they'll put you to work handing out essentials for those in need!
