Teen girl escapes abduction attempt; Cleveland police searching for suspect

The suspect was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, blue jeans, and brown boots at the time of the incident.

Police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to abduct a 15-year-old girl on Cleveland's east side.

The girl's mother told police her daughter left for school around 8 a.m. Tuesday but came running back inside their E 81st St. apartment 15 minutes later crying. The teen told her mother she had been walking to school on E 81st approaching Euclid Ave. when a man approached her, talking to himself. She said she tried to walk quickly past him, but he grabbed her by the neck.

The man then allegedly tried to drag the girl behind a house, but she was able to kick him in the groin, causing him to let go. The child then ran home and called 911.

Officers also spoke to another witness who said she saw the man "messing with" the victim before seeing him run up E 81st towards Euclid. He is described as being between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall while weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, blue jeans, and brown boots at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland police.
