CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns are expected to agree to terms with free agent defensive end Chris Smith, according to FoxSports.com's Peter Schrager.

A 2014 fifth-round pick, Smith spent the first three seasons of his career as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars before being traded to the Cincinnati Bengals a year in ago. Appearing in all 16 games for the Bengals, the 6-foot-1, 266-pound player recorded 26 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 passes defended, according to NFL.com.

With the Browns returning defensive ends Myles Garrett and Emmanuel Ogbah, it is likely that the Arkansas product is coming to Cleveland to play a reserve role. That could mean less playing time -- or potential roster cuts -- for either of the Browns' current two backup defensive ends, Nate Orchard and Carl Nassib.

According to Schrager, Smith's deal in Cleveland will be for three years. It cannot be made official until the new NFL league year begins at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
