CLEVELAND -- The Jacksonville Jaguars made the most of a Cleveland Browns turnover, and converted a DeShone Kizer interception into a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Blake Bortles to tight end Marcedes Lewis.

The Bortles-to-Lewis connection gave the Jaguars a 7-0 lead over the Browns with 6:54 to play in the first quarter at FirstEnergy Stadium.

After modest gains on first and second downs, Bortles was flushed out of the pocket to the left side of the formation and muscled a short pass down the sideline to wide receiver Marquise Lee. Once Lee secured the catch, he turned upfield and gained 16 yards to set up a first-and-goal at the Cleveland 10-yard line.

Then, on the touchdown pass, Bortles drifted to the right of the formation after utilizing a play-action fake and found Lewis fading toward the end zone well behind the coverage of the Browns’ secondary. Lewis had enough space between him and the nearest defender to square up to the line of scrimmage and catch the underthrown ball.

It was Lewis’ fifth receiving touchdown of the season.

On first-and-10 from his own 45-yard line after a shanked punt from Jacksonville, Kizer dropped back to pass over the middle of the field to wide receiver Rashard Higgins. However, he threw into coverage, and linebacker Telvin Smith corralled the interception.

After securing the catch, Smith hustled his way down the field for a 26-yard gain.
