OLYMPIC RECAP | USA wins bronze in team figure skating; Jamie Anderson takes gold in slopestye

The 2018 Winter Olympics just keep humming along, and while Sunday night didn't see any local heroes winning gold medals, there's was still plenty to look forward to on WKYC's prime time coverage.

On the ice rink, the team figure skating event concluded with the men's, ladies', and ice dancing free skates. Canada cruised to the gold medal, while Team USA took bronze on the backs of Adam Rippon and Mirai Nagasu.

American Jamie Anderson also defended her 2014 gold medal in women's slopestyle snowboarding after the final was reduced to just two runs by strong winds.

11:32 p.m. - Anderson wins women's slopestyle

Wrapping up the night, America's Jamie Anderson has won gold in women's slopestyle snowboarding for the second straight Olympics. Anderson's first-run score of 83.00 was more than enough in a final that was abbreviated by heavy winds.

10:59 p.m. - USA wins bronze in team figure skating

Following an wonderful dance by the brother-sister team of Maia and Alex Shibutani, the United States has won the bronze medal in team figure skating. Canada took the gold, while the Olympic Athletes from Russia grabbed the silver.

10:02 p.m. - Canada clinches gold in team figure skating

Regardless of what happens the rest of the way, Canada will win the team figure skating gold medal, thanks to a third place finish by Gabrielle Daleman in the ladies' free skate.

Alina Zagitova (just 15 years old) of Russia dominated the portion, besting the competition by more than 20 points. The Olympic Athletes from Russia have clinched the silver.

Only the free dance is left, with Team USA still trying to outlast Italy for the bronze.

9:23 p.m. - Nagasu makes history

Mirai Nagasu delivered a stellar performance to lead of the ladies' free skate portion of team figure skating, including becoming the first American woman to land a triple axel at the Olympics.

Her score of 137.53 more than keeps Team USA in contention for a medal.

8:51 p.m. - Men's program wraps up

Although he stumbled at times, Patrick Chan's tougher assortment of spins gave him a score of 179.75 to lead the men's free skate, keeping team Canada in a commanding first place with 55 points. The Olympic Athletes from Russia (48) are currently second, followed by the United States (44), with Italy (42) not far behind.

The ladies' free skate is next.

8:33 p.m. - Rippon shines in Olympic debut.

In the first skate of his Olympic career, 28-year-old American Adam Rippon was nearly flawless, carding a 172.98 to put himself in second by less than a point.

8:07 p.m. - Women's freestyle skiing moguls

Nineteen-year-old Perrine Laffont, of France, won the gold medal in women's freestyle skiing moguls, edging out Canada's Justine Dufour-Lapointe by nine hundredths of a point. Yulia Galysheva of Kazakhstan took the bronze, with American Jaelin Kauf finishing a disappointing seventh.

7:39 p.m. - Team USA medals in men's luge

History was made in men's singles luge, as Chris Mazdzer took silver for the United States' first ever medal in the event.

David Gleirscher of Austria won gold, the first time the country has placed first in men's luge since 1968.
