Red Gerard chats with WKYC's Will Ujek to reflect on gold medal, home

He's a 17-year-old Olympic gold medalist who happens to be a Northeast Ohioan.

PYEONGCHANG -- He's the youngest snowboarder to win a gold medal in the Olympics.

He's 17 years old and a sudden U.S. sensation.

He also happens to be from Northeast Ohio.

Red Gerard spent his early childhood in Rocky River before his family bought a winter home in Colorado, where he learned to snowboard in their back yard.

Over the weekend, Gerard took gold in the men's snowboard slopestyle as his family cheered from the sideline in Pyeongchang. Meanwhile, the rest of his family and friends gathered at a bar in Rocky River to watch.

WKYC's Will Ujek caught up with Gerard 24 hours after his gold medal run to get his thoughts on his accomplishment.
