CLEVELAND — Anthony Copeland joined the WKYC weather team in December 2023. He comes to Cleveland after serving 2 years at KETV in Omaha, NE.
Originally from Memphis, TN he is no stranger to severe weather. In fact, his interest in meteorology was sparked at the age of 14 during the 2008 Super Tuesday Tornado Outbreak when he witnessed his first tornado right in his front yard.
Anthony began his educational career at University of Memphis (Go Tigers!) where he majored in Broadcast Journalism. After earning his bachelor's, he decided to pursue his degree in Broadcast Meteorology at Mississippi State. During this time, he also interned at both WMC-TV in Memphis and at WBTV Charlotte, NC prior to starting his career at WEVV-TV in Evansville, IN in 2019.
While a little far from home, Anthony looks forward to getting involved in the community and bonding with locals over a couple of things that Memphians and Clevelanders have in common—a love of sports and food! In his spare time, he enjoys being in the kitchen, making his world-famous blueberry muffins, practicing the drums or planning his next trip. When he's not tracking weather systems Anthony enjoys working out, hiking, and checking out new restaurants-he's not a bad spades partner either.
