Jessica Van Meter was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. She graduated from Ravenna High School and then Kent State University with a degree in Environmental Geography and a minor in Climatology. At Mississippi State University, she earned a Master's Degree in Broadcast Meteorology while being a Teaching Assistant, working at a local TV station, doing a Great Plains Storm Chase, and completing and publishing a Graduate Thesis.
She started her full-time career in Cadillac, Michigan, forecasting for one of the coldest and snowiest winters on record and learning all about how the Great Lakes can impact weather. After a break for some European travel and a hike across Spain, the mountains were calling.
Colorado Springs was her next stop to learn a totally different type of forecasting. Colorado weather never failed to awe and surprise with massive hail, 100+ mph wind gusts, blizzards, and more.
A job in Toledo finally brought her closer to home, forecasting for the other side of Lake Erie.
Jessica is excited to be fully back home in Northeast Ohio at a station she grew up watching. Other than forecasting the weather, she enjoys coffee, spending time with her family, doing puzzles, pretending to be good at trivia, and travelling.
Fun Fact: Jessica has been to 27 Countries, 45 States, 5 Provinces (and counting....)
