Cleveland shows no shortage in vegan eateries, if you know where to look.

Plant-based diets have become a popular lifestyle choice for many. 

But it can be hard to trust that restaurants are following proper protocol when it comes to preparation of vegan dishes. It can also be tough to find restaurants that nail both preparation and taste.

Luckily for Clevelanders, the city has no shortage of reliable and tasty options for diners seeking plant-based alternatives. 

Check out the list below for five local eateries offering vegan menus you can trust.

Anna in the Raw

Anna in the Raw has been a go-to for healthy, vegan options for years. In addition to popular cold pressed juices, the brand's Good to Go Cafe offers healthy grab-and-go options for those on their lunch break. Popular items include acai bowls, a Grecian salad and the Awesome Burger, a portabello mushroom and seed patty on a gluten-free bun.

Beet Jar

Beet Jar has gained a reputation for its cold pressed juices, which vary in flavor daily. Guests can also find raw cashew milk, smoothies and chia pudding for snacking. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes daily salad offerings and The Bravacado sandwich, which can be served on a gluten-free bun on request.

Boaz Cafe

Boaz offers Mediterranean-inspired fast-casual dishes, from rolled pita sandwiches to grain bowls, salads and smoothies. A lineup of fresh-pressed juices offer health benefits in a bottle, while veggie seekers can find dishes like spicy cauliflower tossed in tahini lemon dressing, hummus falafel rolled pitas and stuffed grape leaves. Menus are also available with dietary information, so diners can be sure they're eating clean.

Cleveland Vegan

Cleveland Vegan has become a Lakewood staple in alternative dining. The cafe offers breakfast and lunch menus, as well as baked goods, milkshakes and coffee drinks. Diners can find indulgences like pancakes, nachos, and biscuits and gravy, all made with healthy meat alternatives, like tofu, lentils and tempeh. Inside the bakery cases, guests will find an array of cookies, donuts, scones and more. The bakery also creates decadent and stunning wedding cakes.

Falafel Cafe

Falafel Cafe's menu has Middle Eastern dishes for vegans and meat-eaters alike. Diners will find samosas stuffed with lentils and veggies, vegan burgers, mousaka and baba ghanoush. The restaurant also does catering for events.
