CLEVELAND — Everyone knows that Cleveland is the home of rock 'n' roll. But the home of BBQ? That's not exactly what we are known for.
Leave it to two old-school rock stars turned pit masters to put Cleveland barbecue on the map with their creation: The Smokin' Rock N' Roll food truck.
The front men of this Bay Village food truck are Todd Chaisson and Billy Morris. Before jumping into BBQ, they were more likely doing stage dives with Chaisson playing bass for the band Tuff and Morris playing guitar in bands like Quiet Riot and Warrant.
These classic head bangers are now turning heads with their barbecue creations.
"The company started when I was smoking some food late night after a gig," Morris recalls. "I was thinking to myself, I kinda like this smoking thing and I'm a rocker! So, I'm gonna start a company that first I smoke for you. Then I rock for you!"
What started in his mom's back yard seven years ago, has now turned into three food trucks serving up head-banging favorites like "Judas Beef" with mouth-watering brisket and "Fleetwood Mac and Cheese" topped with beef tips.
They also are known for their pulled pork and fall-off-the-bone ribs.
You can catch Smokin' Rock N' Roll at their Bay Village location at 605 Clague Road or see a full list of their food truck locations on their Facebook page.
