PORT CLINTON, Ohio — When you visit African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton, you are bound to run into a variety of exotic animals.

But this summer, when you visit the park's "Walk-Thru Safari," you will encounter over 20 life-sized prehistoric creatures as part of the new "Dinosaur Takeover."

The animatronic dinosaurs will be in motion and roaring to give guests a taste of life in the Jurassic era. You'll see T. rex, stegosaurus, triceratops, and many more species. Guests can also pose for pictures in oversized dinosaur eggs or the jaws of a T. rex; mine for real dinosaur fossils to take home (for an additional fee); discover how these animals hunted, survived and cared for their young in a prehistoric world; and learn how to protect today’s wildlife from the threat of extinction.

“Dinosaurs have a universal, enduring appeal that inspires wonderment in all of us,” says African Safari Wildlife Park Director Kelsey Keller. “Whether you’re one or 100, Dinosaur Takeover is not to be missed!”

African Safari Wildlife Park's Drive-Thru Safari, featuring zebras, bison, llamas, alpacas, elk, exotic cattle, emus and more, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last car will be admitted at 4 p.m. Park officials say their warm-weather animals, such as giraffe and antelope, will generally not be visible unless the outdoor temperature is above 60 degrees.

The Walk-Thru Safari, which offers gibbons, lemurs, kangaroos, warthogs, parrots, camel rides, educational animal shows and animal-feeding experiences, will open in mid-May.
