Cleveland Metroparks unveils schedule for 2023 race series events

The first race, 'Earth Day 5K,' will take place on Saturday, April 22.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Metroparks unveiled the dates for the "2023 Cleveland Metroparks Race Series presented by CrossCountry Mortgage" on Wednesday.

The "race and walk" series will feature four races that will take place at various times from April through November. Races will take place at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and several locations within the Cleveland Metroparks. 

“We look forward to building on the success of the Cleveland Metroparks Race Series with CrossCountry Mortgage in its second year,” said Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian M. Zimmerman. “These opportunities are a great way to challenge yourself to stay active, explore nature, enjoy the comradery among our park community and support a great cause.” 

The first race called "Earth Day 5K" will take place on Saturday, April 22. Preregistration will take place from now until April 19 and offers a discounted price of $30 for registering early. Normal registration will take place from April 20 through race day and cost $35.

The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. with pre-race packet pick-up and day-of registration beginning at 7 a.m.

Cleveland Metroparks has provided more information on the three other races that will take place later in 2023 that can be seen below:

  • Whiskey Island 5K on July 16: Explore the Whiskey Island Trail and Wendy Park Bridge to benefit Cleveland Metroparks K-9 unit.
  • Future For Wildlife 5K on October 8: Help Cleveland Metroparks Zoo secure a future for wildlife by running for conservation efforts to protect animals in the wild.
  • Veterans 5K on November 11: Walk or run through Edgewater Beach in honor of our nation’s veterans.

According to the release, those who wish to participate in all four races throughout 2023 have the opportunity to sign up for each at a discount of $20 off the total price.
