CLEVELAND — All weekend long, Northeast Ohio was celebrating Juneteenth -- and there's even more happening today.
On Friday and Saturday, Cleveland held their annual Juneteenth Freedom Fest downtown. The family friendly celebration recognizes the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery on June 19, 1865.
The festival, which took place at Mall C in downtown Cleveland, included a block party, truck show and entertainment for the whole family. Freedom Fest kicked off on Friday with 3News' Danielle Wiggins emceeing the event.
The event aimed to educate, celebrate and activate participation around the history of Black culture, according to event organizers.
Across Northeast Ohio, many Juneteenth celebrations are taking place this weekend.
