Ohio State Fair returning summer 2022

After a two-year hiatus, the fair is returning in full capacity.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Come one, come all to the 2022 Ohio State Fair. 

After a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the State Fair is returning in full capacity. Organizers announced Friday the return of the annual family-friendly fun event, July 27 through August 7. 

"The Ohio State Fair brings people together. It’s a place where we can all celebrate our great state and make memories that will last a lifetime,” said Governor DeWine.

In its 167th year, the fair will bring back classic favorites and new experiences, including food, games, thrilling rides, educational activities, competitions, concerts, agriculture and more.

“Fran and I absolutely love fairs, none more than the Ohio State Fair. We have experienced so many remarkable moments with our children and grandchildren at fairs over the years, and this summer, we can’t wait to enjoy the Ohio State Fair once again.”

The first big-name acts in this year’s Ohio State Fair Concert & Event Series will be announced by the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair on Monday, March 7.

In 2019, more than 930,000 people attended the event during it's 12-day run. Attendees came from each of Ohio’s 88 counties, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, as well as Canada and Mexico. attendees came from each of Ohio’s 88 counties, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, as well as Canada and Mexico.

The fair will be open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets range in price from free for children 5 years old and younger to ten dollars for adults. 

As a bonus for attendees this year, general parking is free. According to a press release for the fair, the event plans to follow applicable state and local health protocols related to the spread of COVID-19.
