BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Thousands of Northeast Ohio residents gathered for the annual Race for the Place on Sunday morning.
The 23rd annual race, which benefits The Gathering Place, took place on National Cancer Survivors Day. 3News' very own Danielle Wiggins, who is a breast cancer survivor, emceed the event.
Organizers say that the proceeds from the race will go towards keeping the services, which include support groups, children's programming, art, nutrition and education, offered at The Gathering Place free of charge.
Over the event's past 23 years, Race for the Place has raised over $6 million for those who have been affected by cancer. This year's on-stage participants included Sydney, a 7-year-old girl who survived cancer, as well as NYT Bestselling Author Regina Brett.
