An explosion of color hits Cleveland with 5K Color Run

Downtown Cleveland was transformed into an explosion of color.

It's known as the "Happiest 5K on the planet."

Welcome to the Color Run... It's a 5K that covers its runners in bright colors at every kilometer of the race.

In partnership with Major League Baseball in celebration of the upcoming All-Star Game in Cleveland, The Color Run hosted a 5K event downtown early Sunday morning, just one of various global cities it will visit throughout the year.

Runners were given a special MLB shirt and doused with numerous colored powders along the race route.

WKYC's Lindsay Buckingham was there to capture some of the most exciting moments:

Even the Oxy Clean guy was there!

Our own Ben Axelrod even took on the race:

The race began at Voinovich Bicentennial Park before winding its way throughout downtown and past spots like PLAY BALL Park and Progressive Field.

The finish line was right in Public Square.
