LeBron James is many things.
Father, husband, a kid from Akron, NBA Champion... and with the release of "Space Jam: A New Legacy" this weekend, the basketball great adds leading movie star to his list of accomplishments.
After weeks of promoting the sequel to the 1996 cult classic, on the movie's official release day, he shared his unfiltered excitement in a video posted to Facebook.
While laying down he says, "I literally got a movie that dropped today, 'Space Jam: A New Legacy.' Oh my goodness, it finally just hit me--I can't believe it."
He continues to express his gratitude saying that despite being busy watching his son, Bronny, play basketball in Augusta, Georgia and with his wife looking at him crazy "because it's 8 o'clock in the morning," he has " so much energy today."
"I'm so honored, I'm so humbled, this is crazy.... I hope everybody go out, check it out in the movie theaters, HBO max, wherever it's around you, please check it out," he encourages.
"Space Jam: a New Legacy" follows James and his young (fictional) son Dom as they get trapped in digital space. In order to make it home safely, James must team up with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the rest of the Looney Tunes to take on the Goon Squad.
The film also features a star studded cast including Don Cheadle, Cedric Joe, Zendaya, and Sonequa Martin-Green, just to name a few.
Ahead of the movie's official release, James surprised the students at his IPromise School in Akron with a special viewing.
"This is my appreciation for you guys to be able to screen 'Space Jam: A New Legacy early," he said to those in attendance in a video message on Thursday.
James closes his video on social media saying, "I promise you won't be disappointed-- I'm just super hype right now. I can't even like control my energy right now."
Space Jam: A New Legacy is available in select theaters and on HBO Max.
