CLEVELAND — Lights! Camera! Action!
The screenings for the 2019 Cleveland International Film Festival are moving to both the West and East sides.
On the first week of the festival, screenings will be held at both Capitol and Near West Side Theaters on March 28, 29, and 30. For the second week of the festival, screenings will take place at the Cleveland Museum of Art and at the Natural History Museum on April 4, 5, and 6.

Last year’s festival drew more than 100,000 movie fans. More than 300 guest filmmakers are expected. This year’s festival runs from March 27 to April 7 and will feature 212 feature films and 237 short films from more than 70 countries around the world.

The opening night movie on March 27 will be The Etruscan Smile starring Brian Cox. It will screen at Playhouse Square’s Keybank State Theatre.
The Director's Spotlight Award will be given to Jennifer Baichwal. Up-and-coming Bollywood star Rima Das will also be honored as part of the "To Be Continued" women’s filmmakers program.
The Dreamcatcher Award will honor the late CIFF trustee David K. Ream as well as award-winning movie and feature director Jamie Babbit, a Shaker Heights native.
This year, the CIFF is partnering with the Tribecca Film Festival as part of the If/Then Short Film competition. The winner will be awarded $25,000 in prize money. CIFF programs are available at Mitchell Brothers Ice Cream in Ohio City on W. 25th Street and at the Cuyahoga Public Library South Euclid Lyndhurst Branch.
Tickets go on sale Friday March 8, at 11 a.m. for CIFF members and to the general public March 15. Tickets for members are $14 and $16 for non-members. Go to clevelandfilm.org to tickets online or by phone at 877 304 FILM. Tickets can be purchased by mail using the CIFF order form in the program.
