CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio -- Now in its 50th year, Blossom Music Center is celebrating the Fourth of July holiday with “A Salute to America.”
The event kicks off Tuesday and continues Wednesday with a Cleveland Orchestra concert that leads up to a fireworks show against the backdrop of the historic venue.
“We needed a year-round venue, we scoped out 50 different venues, and this natural bowl seemed like the ideal way to play all summer long and have a great time,” explains Ross Binnie, the Cleveland Orchestra Chief Marketing Officer. “The acoustics are perfect, probably have got the best lawn in the country. ... It’s just a marvelous venue.”
The Orchestra had outgrown its Severance season. Blossom’s $8.3 million redevelopment project allowed for 5,700 Pavilion seats and the capacity to fit 13,500 people.
The very first concert at Blossom happened on July 19, 1968. Just one year later was the first Fourth of July concert which is a tradition that continues until this day.
