Metallica announced as headliner for 2025 Sonic Temple music festival in Columbus

Organizers say the band was the most requested to act to play at the festival.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Metallica has been announced as the headline for next year’s Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival.

Organizers say the band was the most requested to act to play at the festival. Not only are they performing at Sonic Temple for the first time, they will be closing out shows on Friday and Sunday nights.

“Every year we ask our fans who they want to see at Sonic Temple, and the answer this year was clear—Metallica! We’ve been trying to get Metallica to Sonic Temple for the last five years, and are ready to bring two nights of Metallica to Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio next May,” said Danny Wimmer, the founder of Danny Wimmer Presents.

Additionally, fans will be able to enjoy different Metallica onsite experiences – including the BLACKENED Whiskey Bar and BLACKENED Burger Bar.

Organizers also announced that Rob Zombie and Alice in Chains will perform at the festival.

“This is just the start; we’ll have more than 100 bands playing across four stages for four days, including Rob Zombie and Alice In Chains in direct support for Metallica. We’re so excited about this lineup that we’ll be announcing artists daily for the next month, so there’s a lot for fans to look forward to,” Wimmer said.

The four-day festival will take place from May 8 to May 11 at Historical Crew Stadium. Passes will be available for presale starting Sept. 23 and can be purchased here
