NORTHFIELD, Ohio — Live Nation has announced that the sold-out 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Michael Stanley Band at MGM Northfield has been postponed until Friday, July 12.
The concert, which will celebrate the Cleveland rock icon who passed away in 2021, was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 25.
The postponement comes as MSB drummer Tommy Dobeck receives treatment for an "unexpected, but short-term medical issue," which is preventing him from performing the show in May.
"He's looking forward to joining the band and special guests," said the organizers in a media release.
Officials with Live Nation told 3News that all of the previously purchased tickets will be honored.
Live Nation posted on X in February that the concert was the fastest sell-out in MGM Northfield's History.
However, due to previous commitments, Danny Powers and Rik Storm will be unavailable to perform. The July 12 concert will feature Dobeck and Jonah Koslen as well as Marc Lee Shannon, Rodney Psyka, Paul Christensen, Dave Young and Jackie Popovec from The Vindy’s.
Stanley grew up in Northeast Ohio, graduating first from Rocky River High School and then Hiram College. Although he went to Hiram on a baseball scholarship, Stanley quickly found his calling in music. He played in a band that was first called The Tree Stumps, then Silk, and was able to secure his first record contract in 1969.
