NORTHFIELD, Ohio — Editor's note: Video at the top of this story was originally published in honor of Michael Stanley Day on March 25, 2021.
He was a true Cleveland icon. This December, the life and music of Michael Stanley will be celebrated with a special concert -- Among My Friends Again -- featuring songs that span five decades from his early beginnings to the Michael Stanley Band to The Resonators.
The Musical Legacy of Michael Stanley event will take place Friday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. at the MGM Northfield Park-Center Stage. The concert features members of The Resonators with special guest Jonah Koslen.
Tickets go on sale to Friday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. HERE. Organizers say a portion of every ticket will be donated to the newly formed 10,000 Watts of Holy Lifght Fund of The Cleveland Foundation, which will identify Cleveland-centric organizations and dedicate annual donations as part of their mission.
“We wanted to find a way to continue to celebrate our father’s involvement with local charitable organizations,” said his daughters Anna Sary and Sarah Sharp. “Using our father’s musical legacy and the partnership with the highly respected Cleveland Foundation, 10,000 Watts of Holy Light of The Cleveland Foundation will shed light on and provide financial support to important Northeast Ohio charitable institutions. We know our father would love that his music will continue to bring happiness and memories for years to come.”

Tommy Dobeck, who played drums and recorded with Stanley for nearly 50 years, says this concert is the perfect opportunity to bring fans, friends and extended musical family together for another rush of memories.
“Since Michael’s passing, The Resonators, along with so many other former bandmates, have been calling me, hoping we could find a joyful way to celebrate the musical journey Michael took us on for so many years. I know this will be both a special and emotional evening for everyone.”
Shortly after he passed away earlier this year, the city of Cleveland declared March 25 as Michael Stanley Day. It was celebrated as radio stations throughout Northeast Ohio joined together to play his hit My Town simultaneously. A ceremony with his family was also held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
