National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland: Here are the stars being honored

The 13th annual National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place at 3 p.m. at the Marriott Cleveland East in Warrensville Heights.

CLEVELAND — A lineup of music legends are set to be honored in Northeast Ohio Sunday at the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. 

At the 13th annual ceremony, held at 3 p.m. at the Marriott Cleveland East in Warrensville Heights, ten icons of the R&B genre will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, while six more artists will receive Icon Awards honoring the legacy of Leo's Casino, an iconic venue in Cleveland's R&B scene during the 1960s, the hall said.

“This year’s inductees showcase the depth and diversity of rhythm and blues music. We’re thrilled to return to Cleveland, a city that has played a vital role in shaping the history of R&B,” said LaMont Robinson, founder of the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame Foundation. “Honoring Leo’s Casino and its alumni adds a special touch to this year’s ceremony.”

Stars include Jeffrey Osborne, Kenny Lattimore, Candi Staton and Ginuwine, among others. Recipients of the Leo's Casino Music Icon Award will include Eddie Floyd, Gene Chandler, Chuck Conway Sr., Fred Wheatt, Freddie Arrington, and The Temptations.

Ken Hawkins, a Cleveland radio broadcaster who hosted "The Ken Hawkins Show" in the 1960s.
