CLEVELAND — The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland welcomed several special guests -- like inductee Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s -- on Thursday as the landmark prepares to open its new exhibit known as Revolutionary Women in Music: Left of Center.
Wiedlin, who was inducted with the class of 2021, joined exhibit's kickoff Thursday night alongside Shirley Manson of Garbage, Lisa Loeb and Malina Moye. Loeb is expected to perform a three-song acoustic set as well.
The new exhibit officially opens on Friday.
“This new featured exhibit will examine the work of courageous, groundbreaking, rebellious musicians, from the 1970s to today, who use songwriting, music and performance to subvert societal norms,” the Rock Hall explains. “As the saying goes, well-behaved women rarely make history -- and revolutionary women have often used music and lyrics to take action, convey truth and call for change. For generations, women have fought against socially constructed gender norms in order to obtain equal social, political and economic freedoms.”
