Below is a description from the Rock Hall about the exhibit:

"Flashback to 1984 in our new exhibit and explore a year that reshaped music history. 1984 saw the release of masterworks from superstars including Prince, Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner and Madonna.

"MTV went nationwide, sparking a musical evolution with a new wave of musicians including Duran Duran, Eurythmics, and Culture Club, using music videos to explore gender identity, sexuality, and race in their music and style. Plus, artists like Run-D.M.C. and LL COOL J brought the golden age of hip hop out of its NYC confines and took the culture coast-to-coast. Check out our new exhibit to discover artifacts, audio and video that revisit 1984 -the landmark year that changed music forever."
