If you love to sing or rap… if you want to showcase your talent in front of a large audience and if you can imagine performing on stage under Playhouse Square lights – you’ll want to participate in the first-ever Shining Star CLE! All genres of music are welcomed and encouraged.
WKYC is proud to be a partner in this unique solo-singing vocal competition which gives high school students from Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Medina and Summit counties (including home-schooled high school students) the chance to compete for college scholarships and perform at the renowned Ohio Theatre.
Participants will go through three rounds – online video auditions, in-person auditions and semifinals – before the finals competition and performance on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Ohio Theatre where the ten finalists will compete for the top four spots to win $10,000, $5000, $2,500 and $1,000 in college scholarships. A panel of judges, comprised of accomplished musical professionals from around the region, along with the audience, will choose the top four contestants.
“We believe in creating an uplifting experience that focuses on positivity and artistic growth, enabling young people of all backgrounds to have access to a professional level of music development as well as college scholarship opportunities. Our aim is to help develop each qualifying participant, with every step of the process devoted to artistic mentorship,” explained Jordan Cooper, Artistic Director of Shining Star CLE.
All participants must have a 2018-2021 high school graduation date. Students can easily submit their online video audition to shiningstarcle.org from now through July 1, 2017.
