Cedar Point awarding 10 ‘everyday heroes’ with lifetime tickets: Nominate a hero

Each winner will be given four total lifetime tickets.

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point is on the search to find notable people who are making a difference during these uncertain times, and will be giving 10 of these “everyday heroes” lifetime tickets as a reward for their hard work.

Here's how it works...

You can nominate an everyday hero by submitting a photo and an explanation of how he or she is making an impact in the community. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, May 29.

A panel of judges will select 10 heroes who will each be given lifetime admission to Cedar Point and the Cedar Point Shores waterpark. The winners will be announced Thursday, June 11.

Each winning hero will be given four total lifetime tickets with the opportunity to select three friends or family members who will also receive the never-ending admission.

“The everyday heroes of our communities include frontline nurses, doctors, EMT’s, caregivers, supply chain workers, parents who are now self-taught teachers, grocery store and retail workers, neighbors and anyone who’s gone above and beyond to help others during these challenging times,” park officials said.

If you know a deserving hero, you can nominate them HERE. Limit one entry per person. All entrants must be at least 18 years old.

The 10 winners will be determined based on the following criteria:

  • Role: Briefly describe the nominee’s contributions. Explain how the nominee has shown leadership and how their actions benefited others.
  • Impact: Describe the measurable impact the nominee made within their occupation or community. Explain how their contributions have made a lasting difference.
  • Reach: Describe who benefited from the nominee’s contributions and indicate how many people were affected. Did their contribution expand beyond their community?
  • Inspiration: Share other ways you find the nominee exceptional or unique. How did the nominee go above and beyond to become a hero within their community or organization?

NOTE: You can read the full contest rules at the bottom of this story.

Cedar Point, which was slated to open for the 2020 season on May 9, remains closed until further notice. The company’s CEO recently announced some potential safety measures -- including capacity limits and virtual queue lines -- that could be implemented once Cedar Fair’s parks are clear to open.

Although Cedar Point is still aiming to reopen at some point this year, the park has postponed all of their 150th anniversary season festivities and attractions until 2021.

We at 3News are also looking to honor Northeast Ohio's heroes. You can nominate the hero in your life HERE, and we may feature their story on TV or here on wkyc.com.
