Cedar Point selling pieces of Maverick roller coaster track: Here's how much it will cost you to buy one

There are 390 total pieces of track up for sale. Cedar Point says prices range from $299 to $349.

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point is giving its fans a unique opportunity to own a piece of roller coaster history as the park is selling portions of track from the Maverick ride.

But wait… How is Cedar Point selling pieces of track from a ride that’s still open?

The Maverick track that’s up for sale is actually from the ride’s heartline roll element, which was removed from the attraction before the coaster opened to the public in 2007.

“That piece was replaced with an s-curve element to reduce stress on the trains, but the heartline roll track remained intact and was relocated into storage … until now,” according to a blog post on Cedar Point’s site.

So don't worry. The Maverick is still open.

BUYING A PIECE OF THE MAVERICK ROLLER COASTER

If you want to own one of these pieces of the Maverick coaster, sales will begin in-person only at the Fast Lane sales booth at the park’s main gate starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. Guests can start lining up as early as 12 p.m.

Sales are limited to 390 total pieces, all of which contain a certificate of authenticity signed by Cedar Point Vice President and General Manager Carrie Boldman.

These pieces of track will cost you $299.

“Out of those 390 pieces, 100 have also been signed by Sandor Kernacs, representative from Maverick’s manufacturer, IntaRide,” according to Cedar Point. “Sandor was the only person to ride Maverick with this piece in place.”

The 100 pieces signed by Kernacs are listed at $349.

Cedar Point says the Maverick track pieces are limited to one per guest.

The park is currently in its final weeks of operation for the 2024 season as HalloWeekends continues every Thursday through Sunday until Nov. 2.

Cedar Point recently announced the upcoming addition of Siren's Curse, which is a new tilt roller coaster that's set to open in 2025. The ride, which marks Cedar Point's 19th roller coaster, will be located across from the Iron Dragon.
